CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE
OF THE CHURCH

I. The Nature of the Invisible Church

        A. It is a Catholic or Universal Church

        B. Consists of the whole number of the elect that have been, are or shall be gathered into one

        C. Is under Christ, its Head

        D. Is the spouse of Christ, who filleth all in all

II. The Nature of the Visible Church

        A. It is also a Catholic or Universal Church

        B. Consists of all those throughout the world that profess the true religion and their children

        C. Is the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ

        D. The House and Family of God

        E. Outside of the visible church is no ordinary possible means of salvation

III. More on the Visible Church

        A. Christ hath given the ministry, oracles and ordinances of God for the gathering and perfecting of the saints.

        B. Christ by his own presence and Spirit according to his promise make them effectual thereunto.

IV. Particular Churches

        A. Are members of the Catholic Church

        B. Are more or less pure according as the means of grace are administered, embraced, taught and performed
             more or less purely in them

V. Warnings and comfort to the visible church

        A. The purest of the visible churches are subject to mixture and error

        B. Some visible churches degenerate as to become synagogues of Satan

        C. Nevertheless, there shall always be a Church on earth to worship God according to His will

VI. Statements concerning who is the Head of the Church

        A. Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church.

        B. The Pope of Rome is that Antichrist that exalteth himself against Christ and all that is called God and
             cannot be in any sense Head of the Church.
