I. The Nature of the Sacraments

II. The Nature of the Sacramental Union between the sign and the thing signified

        A. There is a spiritual relation between the sign and the thing signified

        B. The names and the effects of the one are attributed to the other

III. The Efficacy of the Sacraments

        A. Grace and efficacy of the sacrament not conferred by any power in them

        B. Grace and efficacy of the sacrament not dependent on any piety or intention of he who administers it

        C. Grace and efficacy of the sacrament dependent upon the work of the Holy Spirit

        D. Grace and efficacy of the sacrament dependent upon the word of institution

                1. The word of institution contains a precept authorizing the use thereof.

                2. The word of institution contains a promise of benefit to worthy receivers.

IV. How many Sacraments are there and who is to dispense them?

        A. How many Sacraments are there?

                1. Baptism

                2. The Lord's Supper

        B. The Sacraments to be administered by a minister of the Word lawfully ordained

V. The OT and NT Sacraments, in regard of the spiritual things signified and exhibited, are in essence the same.
