I. The Lord Jesus Christ has ordained a government which is in the
    hand of church officers.

II. The Power of Church Censures

        A. To Retain, and remit sins

        B. To shut the kingdom against the impenitent

        C. To open the kingdom to penitent sinners

III. The Reasons and Results of Church Discipline

        A. To reclaim and regain offending brethren

        B. To deter others from like offenses

        C. To purge out that leaven which might infect the whole lump

        D. To vindicate the honor of Christ and the holy profession of the Gospel

        E. To prevent the wrath of God which might justly fall upon the Church if it should suffer his covenant to be
             profaned by notorious and obstinate offenders

IV. The steps of healthy and proper censures (in this order)

        A. Admonition according to the nature of the crime

        B. Suspension from the Lord's Supper according to the nature of the crime

        C. Excommunication according to the nature of the crime
